About the novel:
From the time he first visits Ibadan as a young boy, Akinduro Falana is intrigued by the excitement and vitality of city life. As a student at school, as a driver's apprentice and finally as the Managing Director of his own business, Akin uses his wits and cunningness to make a place for himself in the city and to acquire the luxuries which are the rewards of material success. But ultimately Akin has reason to wonder if he has triumphed over the city, or the city triumphed over him.
About the author:
Born in Ogbomosho in Oyo State, Nigeria, Agbo Areo was educated at Ibadan Provincial College, Osogbo , and later at the University of Ibadan from which he graduated in English. He taught at secondary school level in the former Western State of Nigeria before entering a literary profession. He has previously written a number of articles for newspapers, magazines and radio. He has also had a second novel titled The Hopeful Lovers.
